The Breeding Specialist will be responsible for daily aspects of canine breeding, including physical breeding activities, coordination and healthcare of the Leader Dog breeding colony and their respective puppies, and coordination/education of Leader Dog’s volunteer breeding host homes. In addition, this position will provide veterinary assistance to the Vet Services department on an as needed basis.
Candidates must have an associate degree or 2 years related technical training from an accredited college or university and at least 3 years previous experience in breeding or veterinary environment. Additional years of experience may be substituted for the university requirement. Veterinary Technician license strongly preferred. Knowledge of breeding including frozen semen technology, artificial insemination and venipuncture skills (blood sampling) preferred.
