IGDF Statistics
The International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) is a membership body and professional standard-setter for guide dog organisations. IGDF collects information from its guide dog organisations around the world in order to track and analyse trends within the guide dog sector.
IGDF currently represents:
- 99 Member Organisations from 33 countries
- 17 Applicant Organisations from a further 6 countries
- 6 Enquiring Organisations from a further 2 countries
- 5 Affiliate Organisations from 4 countries
As at 31st December 2023, IGDF Member Organisations had:
- 97 IGDF Members in 34 countries
- 19,557 Guide Dogs currently working
- 2,598 Guide Dogs trained during 2023
- 19,251 Follow-up/aftercare visits
- 7007 individual employees
- 794 Guide Dog Mobility Instructors
- 252 Apprentice/trainee Guide Dog Mobility Instructors
- 241 Guide Dog Trainers
- 113 Apprentice/trainee Guide Dog Trainers

During 2023, IGDF Member Organisations had:
9,312 puppies on Puppy Development Programmes; and
