The mission of the Fondation romande pour chiens guides d’aveugles is to raise, train and deliver guide dogs to blind or visually impaired people to enable them to move around independently and in complete safety. Founded in 1994, it has its headquarters in the heart of French-speaking Switzerland and a branch in Ticino, the Italian-speaking canton in the south of the country. We also have a breeding program and collaborate actively at the international level.
Starting March 1st 2023, or to be arranged upon, we are offering a position as Qualified Guide Dog Mobility Instructor
Desired skills and Experience:
- GDMI (Guide Dog Mobility Instructor) training completed with a diploma + at least 2 years’ experience
- Valid driver’s licence cat. B
- Excellent knowledge (spoken and written) of French and German: Level C2 (spoken) B2 (written)
- Organizational and planning skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal skills: listening, patience, tact and empathy
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently, taking responsibility for the tasks assigned
- Be familiar with modern training methods using positive reinforcement and following the LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) principle for dog training
- Ability to manage the physical demands and inherent requirements of the job
- Availability to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings, if necessary
