About the Position:
This is a permanent full-time role.

The Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI) works as part of the RSB Guide and Assistance Dog Team and is focused on the safe and effective training of clients in all aspects of guide dog mobility, guide dog assessments and delivering all types of guide dog training.

Essential Criteria:

  • Hold a current International Guide Dog Federation accredited, Guide Dog Mobility Instructor Certified qualification.
  • Have the ability to analyse and assess individual dogs and carry out a tailored training program.
  • Be skilled in determining the needs, abilities, suitability, and potential of new or existing clients.
  • Possess the knowledge to evaluate all relevant client information and identify ideal dog type, within specific timeframes.
  • Have the ability to plan and organise work activities to ensure safety and welfare of self, clients, and others.

Desirable Skills Criteria

  • Prior experience in training and supporting GDMIs, Cadet GDMI’s, Puppy Education Trainees and Supervisors in both practical and theoretical training.
  • Proven experience in public speaking and presentation.

Special Conditions

  • Occasional country travel will be required.
  • Some weekend and after-hours work will be required.
