About the Role
As a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor, you will work directly with clients who are blind or have low vision to deliver high-quality Guide Dog mobility services and training programs. You will play a key role in supporting clients to achieve greater independence, confidence, and community participation.
The role involves:
- Delivering Guide Dog mobility instruction to clients across Victoria
- Assessing client suitability and matching Guide Dogs to client needs
- Assessing, training, and developing Guide Dogs to meet high operational and welfare standards
- Supporting the preparation and development of dogs through all stages of training
- Supporting client outcomes through ongoing training and follow-up services
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Contributing to the ongoing development and growth of Guide Dog and Assistance Dog programs
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Hold a recognised IGDF qualification as a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor
- Have experience in the assessment and training of Guide Dogs
- Demonstrate strong observational, handling, and instructional skills
- Have a strong commitment to client-centred service delivery
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be adaptable, collaborative, and passionate about achieving positive outcomes for clients
- Hold or be eligible to obtain relevant Australian working rights and clearances
Whilst not essential, experience in delivering Assistance Dog programs or broader Assistance Dog services would be highly regarded.
