Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI) – Full Time

📍 Manotick, Ontario, Canada (25 minutes from downtown Ottawa)
Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB) is seeking a full-time Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI) to join our professional training team at our head office in Manotick, Ontario, Canada.
This opportunity is well suited to experienced international applicants who are interested in working in Canada with a nationally recognized guide dog organization.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Training guide dogs and guide dog/client teams
• Delivering in class and community-based training
• Conducting aftercare and follow up visits across Canada
• Occasionally representing CGDB at related events and outreach activities
• Traveling nationally, including overnight stays when required
All GDMIs are based at our Manotick head office, with clients located throughout across Canada.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Hold a GDMI qualification recognized by the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF)
• Have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the guide dog industry
• Demonstrate strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
• Possess sound professional knowledge expected of a GDMI, including modern, humane dog training methodologies
• Demonstrate openness to new insights, continuous learning, and professional development
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Hold a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving in varied environments
Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset but is not required.
Contract & Work Authorization
• This position is offered as a renewable three year contract
• Employment is subject to obtaining a valid Canadian work visa
• CGDB is open to considering qualified international applicants who meet all role requirements
