That makes us the most experienced and knowledgeable provider of vision services in South Australia. But our range of services is also what makes us stand apart. We’re the largest provider in South Australia, offering people who are blind or have low vision support that ranges from guide dogs to assistive technologies.

The opportunity

See Differently is looking for a full-time Guide Dog Mobility Instructor to work as part of the See Differently Guide and Assistance Dog Team. As a GDMI you will play a key role in enhancing independence and mobility for individuals with vision impairment, providing expert guidance and training in a supportive and professional environment.

Your duties will include:

  • Train and match guide dogs with clients, ensuring tailored mobility solutions
  • Provide ongoing support and training to clients with vision impairments
  • Collaborate with our dedicated team to deliver the highest quality of care and service

Skills and experience:

  • Current drivers license
  • Current satisfactory DHS screening and National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain.
  • Qualification in guide dog mobility instruction from and International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) accredited organisation and 3+ years experience.
  • Have the ability to analyse and assess individual dogs and carry out a tailored training program.
  • Be skilled in determining the needs, abilities, suitability, and potential of new or existing clients.
  • Possess the knowledge to evaluate all relevant client information and identify ideal dog type, within specific timeframes.
  • Have the ability to plan and organise work activities to ensure safety and welfare of self, clients, and others.
  • Must be physically fit and capable of walking 10+km’s per day.
