Email: Hanna.bcg@geleidehond.be
Job description:
As a veterinarian, you are responsible for the medical follow-up of our puppies and breeding females at the breeding center, puppies in foster families, dogs in training, and working guide dogs. Since our dogs are spread throughout Flanders, this follow-up has two aspects. On the one hand, you carry out first-line consultations at our center in Tongeren; on the other hand, you provide remote medical guidance and refer dogs to a local colleague when necessary. You keep an overview of ongoing medical cases and take appropriate action.
As the person in charge of the breeding program, you determine its direction based on feedback from the training department. You aim to make the best possible matches, both medically and behaviorally. To ensure sufficient genetic diversity, you collaborate with colleagues in Belgium and abroad.
Of course, you won’t be doing this alone! You will work closely with an experienced colleague.
Requirements:
- You hold a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine – motivated starters are welcome too! Since this job requires very specific expertise, we provide further internal training.
- You are capable of successfully performing general consultations.
- You have experience or a strong interest in reproduction, obstetrics, behavior, genetics, and general veterinary medicine in dogs.
- You are a people person and approachable for staff and volunteers. You communicate fluently in Dutch and English and enjoy working in an (inter)national context.
We offer:
- An exciting and varied part-time job (20h), either as an employee or self-employed.
- A highly motivated team and a truly inspiring work environment.
- Your main workplace will be at the headquarters of our training center, Overhaamlaan 11b, Tongeren.
